Carlos IV abdica al trono de España, a favor de su hijo Fernando VII.

Por la inconformidad de los liberales en contra del gobierno del emperador Agustín de Iturbide, aunada a la sublevación de Santa Anna el primero de febrero del mismo año (Plan de Casa Mata), aquél presenta ante el Congreso su abdicación al trono de México. La diputación aprueba la decisión y declara que la nación quedaba en la más absoluta libertad para constituirse como mejor le conviniera.

Nace en Tlacolula, Oaxaca, José Rumbia Guzmán, quien habrá de distinguirse como profesor progresista y revolucionario: luchará incansablemente por la reivindicación del proletariado. Ha de morir en la ciudad de Tlaxcala, el 22 de febrero de 1913.
19.3.1985
Muere en un hospital de la ciudad de Denver, Colorado, EUA, el licenciado Jesús Reyes Heroles, originario de Tuxpan, Veracruz, donde naciera el 3 de abril de 1921. El Distinguido político e ideólogo de la postrevolución, fue presidente del PRI, secretario de Gobernación, Director del IMSS y de Pemex. Perteneció a la Academia Nacional de Historia y se le consideró padre de la Reforma política para una auténtica democracia. A su muerte se desempeñaba como secretario de Educación Pública del gobierno del licenciado Miguel de la Madrid.
